One third of the Chilean economy is made up of goods and service exports, with commodities making up the majority of the rest. The country’s top export is copper which accounts for about 20% of government revenue, and the drop in copper prices over the last 3 years has meant a slowing in Chile's economic growth¹.

Chilean Peso Historical Exchange Rate

The Chilean peso has stayed relatively stable during the last five years, influenced by its economy’s sound policies and healthy growth. ¹

Starting August 2014, 1 AUD was trading at around 556.53306 CLP. Since this time the Chilean peso has showed a trajectory of improvement hitting 466.47239 CLP to 1 Australian dollar in April 2015.²

Stabilising somewhat by February 2016, 1 AUD was buying approximately 494.15268 CLP; similarly in February of 2017 that number was around 493.88360 CLP for 1 AUD.²

As of 25 September 2018, 1 Australian dollar would buy you 487.81610 Chilean pesos. ²
