The Mexican Peso (MXN, $) is the official currency of Mexico, and is the third most traded currency in Latin America after American Dollars (USD) and Canadian Dollars (CAD).

The Mexican Peso, or MXN, derives from the original eight-piece Spanish Dollar which was minted in silver and issued in Mexico during Spanish rule. The word “peso” literally means “weights” in Spanish, and refers to the gold or silver weights that took the currency’s original form.

Mexican Pesos come in both coins and notes. Denominations of coins include 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 and 20 Pesos. Note denominations include 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 Pesos.
